Day 14 - Monday - Wandering St Andrews

Today was a bit of a lazy day. We had breakfast and headed out to walk part of the Old Course and take pictures since we couldn't yesterday. Debbie wore a skirt (all she had clean) and sandles with no socks. It was cool and windy so she got pretty cold. We got some pics of the course and of the West Beach and headed inland to town where it was less windy.

We wandered down through town to the small harbour. It is a really nice spot with views of both the cathedral and castle ruins. The cathedral must have been huge. It is mostly ruins now but there is a tower with a very tall circular staircase that gives gorgeous views in all directions. I am glad that I didn't meet anyone going in the opposite direction on the stairs.

We walked through the rather unremarkable cathedral museum and then headed to the castle ruins. I think that we are getting castled out because this one seemed rather unremarkable as well. We are both very tired. We wandered through town a bit more and headed back to our room for a nap.

Supper tonight was very good but the best part was the stickey toffee pudding with custard for dessert. I have googled a recipe that we have to try when we get home. This is turning into an ale, whiskey, scone and stickey pudding trip.

We are having a blast but we needed a layover day so today became it. We are both good to go again tomorrow when we visit Crail and Anstruther.

Slainte.
